Project Overview

Bella Taste Bistro contacted me about the need to create an aesthetically pleasing and professional-looking restaurant menu that would represent the restaurant properly and entice customers. The goal was to create a restaurant menu that would combine visual appeal, structure, legibility, and appetizing appearance, encouraging people to browse the menu and order. The final design was created to be used on printed and digital menus.

Challenge

The restaurant required a menu that would:

• Create a good first impression
• Entice the customers with the visuals of food
• Have organized categories
• Have readable prices and descriptions
• Keep consistency of the brand image
• Adapt to various types of menus and formats
• Make the dining experience more professional

The main challenge was to make a visually appealing but also usable menu without overcrowding it.

Solution

I’ve created a clean and modern menu design fitting the visual image of the restaurant and its target audience:

• Visual Direction: Used the right colors, food images, fonts, and graphics in order to create an appetizing atmosphere of the restaurant.
• Menu Structure: Designed the menu structure in such a way that customers could easily find appetizers, main courses, desserts, drinks, and any other menu offerings.
• Typography: Chose fonts that would complement each other in terms of category titles, dish names, descriptions, and prices.
• Food Presentation: Used food imagery in such a way that selected dishes looked appetizing without making the design overcrowded.
• Brand Consistency: Ensured that there would be brand consistency in the design so that it would work alongside the other marketing materials of the restaurant.
• Flexibility: Created a flexible layout design so that it would be easy to use in printed menus, digital menus, social media, and the website.

Design process

01  Discovery: Analysis of the restaurant’s brand identity, target audience, menu content, food categories, and design needs.

02  Layout Planning: Created a planned layout to figure out how menu categories, dishes, descriptions, pricing, and pictures will be arranged.

03  Visual Design: Designed the menu applying properly chosen typography, colors, images and graphics.

04  Refinement: Optimized spacing, alignment, typography, image positioning and visual hierarchy.

05  Final Delivery: Made necessary preparations to deliver the menu design for professional printing and digital use.

Result

Bella Taste Bistro received a professionally designed menu that presents the restaurant’s food offerings in a visual form. Improved layout and visual hierarchy helped people to browse through the list of dishes and understand the offered items better, while the design itself enhanced the professional image of the brand.
